Mission:
The mission of the North Carolina Child Passenger Safety Conference is to provide continuing education and networking opportunities to currently certified child passenger safety technicians and instructors in North Carolina. The conference aims to provide sessions that reflect diversity of the field, with the intent of increasing knowledge and sharing best practices throughout North Carolina and beyond. This event is structured to bring together hundreds of technicians, instructors and industry leaders to discuss the most current occupant protection resources, technologies, products, and programs.
Who organizes the conference?
The North Carolina Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Training Committee organizes the conference.
The NC CPS Training Committee is a group of child passenger safety advocates representing agencies and programs involved in state or local CPS educational and training efforts from all regions of North Carolina including representatives of state and local law enforcement agencies, fire and rescue departments, health departments and hospitals. Individual CPS advocates are also represented on the committee.
NC has been supporting child passenger safety advocates and educators with a child passenger safety conference periodically since 1982 and annually since 2006. The 2012 conference will be the 30th anniversary of the first CPS conference held in North Carolina. Please join us as we celebrate 30 years of child passenger safety in North Carolina!

General information about the 2012 NC CPS Conference:
Eligible Participants:
Current Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians
and Technician Instructors.
Registration will be limited to 400 participants.
Conference Dates:
Conference: Tuesday March 6 - Wednesday March 7, 2012. Technicians are encouraged to register for both days for greatest benefit, but one-day registrations are available.

Participants are responsible for payment for sleeping rooms.
Rooms are available at a nightly rate of $63.90 + tax. Rooms will be available at this rate on a first come basis until February 4, 2012. Remaining rooms will be released and rates may go up after the February 4, 2012 cut-off date.

Scholarships:
Thanks to the support of the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program, a limited number of conference registration scholarships are available to cover registration fees for the 2012 North Carolina Child Passenger Safety Conference.

Awards Nominations
The North Carolina Child Passenger Safety Training Committee accepted nominations in recognition of outstanding CPS contributions. Nominations are accepted in the following categories:
- Child Passenger Safety Technician of the Year
- Child Passenger Safety Technician Instructor of the Year
- Child Passenger Safety Advocate of the Year
- Child Passenger Safety Program of the Year
- CPS Saves*
*The North Carolina Child Passenger Safety Training Committee recognizes Child Passenger Safety Technicians or Programs that have, through actions related to CPS Programs and/or events, contributed to saving the life of a child involved in a crash. All nominations in this "CPS Saves" category will be recognized.
The deadline for nominations was January 11, 2012.
